Essential oils are a wonderful and simple way to take advantage of the abundant benefits lavender has to offer. Lavender essential oil is considered a safe oil and can be used for aromatherapy and topical applications. Adding a mist of lavender linen spray to your pillow before bed is one form of aromatherapy.
How to Make Lavender Sleep Spray
What you’ll need for this recipe
- One 4oz to 6oz glass spray bottle
- 10 to 20 drops of lavender essential oil
- 1 tbsp on alcohol (rubbing alcohol or unflavored vodka)
- 2 to 4 tbsp of Distilled Water
- Funnel
Instructions
- Using the funnel, add the 1 tbsp of alcohol to the bottle along.
- Next add the 10 to 20 drops of essential oil to the bottle. Screw lid onto bottle and shake vigorously. Essential oil need a carrier in order for proper dissolution. Alcohol serves the carrier for the oil. Do not add the oil directly to the water.
- Finally unscrew the lid and top the bottle off with distilled water.
Uses
Lavender has been use for thousands of years to purify the mind and body. It is also a known stress reliever. Therefore spraying it on your pillow at night before sleep will lead to a calming nights rest.
Other ways to use this spray is on a fresh load of laundry, towels, and any other linen that could benefit from the beautiful floral aroma of lavender.
